The TTTV scheme will undertake a wide range of environmental, cultural and community-led projects within the Trent, Tame and Dove river valleys covering some 200 square kilometers from Uttoxeter to Tamworth and including the river valleys within or near to the main towns of Burton, Rugeley, Lichfield and Derby. Work will include river restoration, improved access to explore hard-to-reach areas, and creating ways to reconnect communities with their natural heritage.
As part of the Community Grant Scheme, groups are being invited to apply for up to £2,000 to help towards a project that they will deliver in the TTTV area. The grant can contribute up to 50 per cent of the total project cost, so groups will have to find match funding from other sources as well.
The projects must contribute towards the objectives of the Transforming the Trent Valley:
1. Conserving, protecting, and/ or enhancing natural, built or cultural heritage
2. Helping people learn about their natural, built or cultural heritage
3. Helping communities celebrate the natural, built or cultural heritage
4. Increasing people’s awareness and enjoyment of the Transforming the Trent Valley area for residents and/or those working in or visiting the area
Nicola Lynes, Community Engagement Officer for the TTTV project, said: “Maybe you’ve got an idea for an arts trail, or an area you want to improve for wildlife. Perhaps you’d like to arrange an event which celebrates traditional and historical crafts? Or you’d like to restore a built structure which has historical significance.
“The Grants panel will meet twice a year to approve applications, keep an eye out for the next deadline on the TTTV website and in the newsletters. The first deadline is Tuesday 27th August at 5pm.
"We are also accepting applications from individuals to be on the Community Grants Panel, to help decide where our money should be spent.”
