Support a nature reserve for a day FAQs

Support a nature reserve for a day - FAQs

Will I be the only person supporting the reserve on my chosen day?

No. More than one person can support the same reserve on the same day. Your support contributes towards the ongoing care and management of the reserve, alongside contributions from other supporters.

How do you care for and manage its nature reserves?

Our reserves are managed by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who work throughout the year to protect and enhance habitats for wildlife. This includes practical conservation work such as maintaining paths and boundaries, managing woodlands, grasslands and wetlands, controlling invasive species, monitoring wildlife, and undertaking habitat restoration projects. These activities help ensure our reserves remain healthy and accessible for both wildlife and people.

Can we hold celebrations on our chosen day at the reserve?

To help protect wildlife and the natural environment, we do not allow celebrations involving balloons, fireworks, or similar activities on our reserves. However, you are welcome to enjoy a quiet walk around the reserve or bring a picnic as part of your visit, provided you respect the site and take any litter home with you.

Is £50 the actual cost of managing my chosen reserve for a day?

No. £50 is an indicative cost. The actual cost of managing a reserve for a day varies, as each reserve differs in size, habitat, and management requirements.

Can I Gift Aid my minimum donation?

If you are an individual donating, you can gift aid your donation.

Will the donation value change?

We review the minimum donation annually. If there is a substantial uplift in our costs, we will increase the value of the donation we ask for.

Will my donation be spent on my chosen reserve?

If you donate to one of our nature reserve schemes, it will be treated as an unrestricted gift. This is because the management of all nature reserves are funded by unrestricted donations which enables Trustees to have the discretion to apply funding where they can achieve the greatest charitable impact.
