Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is shining a spotlight on the extraordinary people powering nature’s recovery across the county this Volunteers’ Week.

From the quiet dedication of office volunteers who keep everything running smoothly, to the muddy-booted teams who are ‘hands on’ out  on  nature reserves, the Trust’s army of generous volunteers help the charity achieve so much.

“Volunteers are the driving force behind our work. Your energy, expertise and commitment are extraordinary. Each day you help us transform landscapes, support local wildlife and inspire communities.

Quite simply, without you none of this would be possible. A huge thank you for all that you do,” says Julian Woodford, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust Chief Executive.

This week is a chance to celebrate those contributions and say a heartfelt thank you to every single volunteer making a difference across Staffordshire. Whether you’re crafting, coordinating, counting, cutting, planting or protecting -you are part of something bigger, a growing movement to bring nature back to life.

And as the Trust looks ahead to an even more ambitious future for nature, there’s never been a more exciting time to get involved.

There are a variety of roles available, including Trustee and Honorary Secretary. This is a pivotal volunteer leadership role which offers the chance to help shape the future of Staffordshire’s largest nature conservation charity. It’s a unique opportunity to be at the heart of decision-making, guiding the Trust’s direction, strengthening governance and helping drive meaningful action for nature at scale.

It’s a chance to play a leading role in tackling the nature and climate crisis locally, while working alongside passionate people committed to positive change.

Whether you can give a few hours a week out on a nature reserve, or bring leadership expertise to the table, every contribution counts. Together, volunteers are making Staffordshire wilder, more connected and more resilient.

If you’re inspired to be part of the movement, now is the time to join. Head to our volunteering webpage to find out how you can become a nature hero.
