Take advantage of early-bird sign up prices for Trust’s Ride the Roaches cycling sportive

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is inviting people to get on their bike and sign up to this year’s eagerly awaited Ride the Roaches cycling sportive this September – and help support its conservation work across the county in the process. It takes place on Sunday 8th September.

People can now take advantage of early-bird sign up prices through British Cycling to take part in the Trust's annual fundraising cycling sportive which is due to be held on Sunday 8th September.

Money raised from the Ride the Roaches event goes towards the Trust’s conservation work, including looking after wildlife and wild places in the county.

This year is a special one for the charity – who are celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019.

The Ride the Roaches event runs from the Trust’s Wolseley Centre headquarters, near Rugeley and there will be three distances for people to take part in, a ‘Mammoth’ 90-mile route, a ‘Midi’ 60-mile route and a ‘Mini’ 30-mile route.

The professionally designed courses have been created to test the best – with all abilities catered for.

Sue Chance, Head of Commercial for Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, said: “We held our first ever Ride the Roaches cycling sportive last year and now we’re aiming to make this year’s bigger and better than ever before. Last year’s event was a lot of fun and competitive, and we want to make this year’s an even more memorable event, especially as this year is our 50th anniversary.

“We had some really good feedback following Ride the Roaches in 2018. The courses take in some of Staffordshire’s beautiful scenery. We wanted again for the event to be open to everyone to take part in and having these three routes means that is possible.

“We also want to encourage people to take part and gain sponsorship as part of the sportive – it’d be great if people could raise money for the work we do across Staffordshire by asking people to sponsor them for taking part in the sportive. Money raised goes towards our vital conservation work in Staffordshire, including managing our Roaches nature reserve.”
