Local charity plea to Stoke-on-Trent Tesco shoppers

Children from Stoke-on-Trent could enjoy free outdoor school holiday activities.
If you're shopping at Tesco, please vote for us using the blue tokens! We'd love more children to have the chance to connect with nature and play in this beautiful woodland.

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust hope to win funding to run Forest School style sessions at Hem Heath Woods, Trentham.

The charity is asking local shoppers to vote for their project, so more children can enjoy playing outside. Den building, natural crafts, bug hunting and campfire cooking are all on the agenda. Children could also climb trees and generally get a bit mucky!

These sessions are suitable for children of all ages.

Aimee Beardmore, Wildchild and Engagement Lead for Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, says:

“If you're shopping at Tesco, please vote for us using the blue tokens! We'd love more children to have the chance to connect with nature and play in this beautiful woodland.

“Playing outdoors has huge benefits for children’s mental health and wellbeing. Connecting with nature from a young age is proven to increase our ability to deal with stress and boosts confidence.”

The Tesco Stronger Starts community grants programme is funded by Tesco and Groundwork UK. While voting is open, Tesco shoppers can choose the projects they’d like to see win funding in their area.

Voting is open until the end of March. Shoppers can vote at Longton Extra, Meir Hay Express, Meir Superstore and Blythe Bridge Express.
