Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is saying a big thank you to National Lottery players this March with a free hot drink at The Wolseley Centre and nature reserve.

The offer is available Monday 9 to Friday 13 March, between 2pm and 4pm, is part of National Lottery Open Week, celebrating the incredible support players provide to good causes across the UK.

Every week, players raise around £32 million for charities and community projects. Staffordshire Wildlife Trust has benefited from more than £1 million in National Lottery funding in recent years.

A grant of £250,000 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund is helping local communities explore their connections to the landscapes of the River Trent through hands‑on archaeology, historical research, and the sharing of local folklore and mythology.

In addition, £750,000 awarded over five years by The National Lottery Community Fund is supporting communities in the Staffordshire Moorlands to restore much‑loved green spaces and monitor how these improvements benefit nature, sharing their actions findings through art installations.

Adela Appleby, Head of Fundraising and Development at Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, said:

“We’re so grateful to everyone who plays the National Lottery. Your support helps us protect wildlife across Staffordshire. That’s why we’re delighted to take part in National Lottery Open Week – it’s our small way of saying thank you.”

To claim the free hot drink, simply show a valid National Lottery ticket at the counter when purchasing a tasty baked treat in the Kingfisher Café.

Editor's Notes

Transforming the Trent Valley was a series of projects across the Trent Valley in Staffordshire and Derbyshire originally funded in 2019 – 2024. This work is now growing, with the addition of the Trent Valley Past & Present project funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund (as mentioned in the press release above). Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is the lead partner of the Transforming the Trent Valley Partnership, a collection of charities, local authorities, statutory bodies and businesses working together to connect communities, support local action, and restore and enhance the natural environment and cultural heritage of the Trent Valley.

A series of projects, both past and present, are helping us to Transform the Trent Valley. To discover more about our current work, visit www.thetrentvalley.org.ukature
