Midlands Nature
The opportunity
In the Midlands our economy and society is dependent on a healthy natural environment. At least 50% of GDP is moderately or highly dependent on nature, yet the UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries on the planet.
As our businesses and lifestyles adapt to a changing climate, restoring nature can build economic resilience. Our natural assets are also essential to tackling climate change and managing food security.
The Midlands has a unique role to play in managing these risks, acting as a bridge for species or habitats to move from south to north as they respond to changes in climate.

About Midlands Nature
Midlands Nature is working to drive nature recovery in the Midlands through a shared vision, voice, and delivery programmes. This unique regional partnership of The National Trust, The Woodland Trust, RSPB, Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust, Environment Agency and Natural England looks to work beyond our sector to increase the scale and pace of nature restoration in our region.
Midlands Nature is at an early stage of our development, seeking input from a range of stakeholders about how we can deliver outcomes which meet your needs. Charities, government and business all have a role to play in ensuring nature thrives in the Midlands.
Together we can maximise on opportunities to create and fund programmes which deliver outcomes we all want to see, such as flood mitigation, clean air and creating beautiful places for people to live and work.

Our air, water and soil are healthy and can adapt to a changing climate

We hope that by fencing Doxey Pool that vegetation will be able to grow around the banks and the water quality will improve to support wildlife.
People continue to enjoy and benefit from natural spaces
