The Wolseley Centre

The Wolseley Centre is the Headquarters for Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and is set in 26 acres of former landscape gardens which was the ancestral home of the Wolseley family. The site has a number of easily accessible walks taking in the three lakes, riverside and many other habitats. Our Visitor Centre includes a shop, information room, environmental education facilities ideal for teachers and schools and conference facilities for businesses to hire. The Wolseley Centre is open seven days a week and offers:

• Two excellent conference/meeting rooms with capacity for up to 70 delegates
• Gift shop
• Snacks and refreshments
• A wildlife information room
• Guided tours of our nature reserve
• Environmental education activities

 

The Gatehouse

This is a moderately sized room which is housed in a separate building from that of the Wolseley Centre. It can hold up to 20 boardroom, cabaret and theatre style and is located at the top of the driveway by the main entrance to the site. It is ideal if you have a small business meeting which requires privacy. It also has a self contained kitchen area for clients who wish to supply their own catering and also its own car parking area.

 

Westport Lake Visitor Centre

Westport Lake Visitor Centre is set in a brand new, eco-friendly building which opened its doors to the public in September 2009. Built by British Waterways and leased by the Trust from Stoke on Trent City Council, the centre is used by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust as an office. It also boasts a room that can be hired out for meetings and conferences and a cafe/retail outlet for visitors to the Lake. Westport Lake was designated as a Local Nature Reserve in 2004 and is an important overwintering site for many water birds and unusual birds often stop off at the lake during migration. The conservation area at the back of the site is home to many animals including shovellers, kingfishers and dragonflies. Westport Lake Visitor Centre is open seven days a week and offers:
