In a record-breaking year Ladderedge Country Park is raising its prestigious Green Flag Award
We’re thrilled to receive this national recognition, which is only possible thanks to the unwavering support from our passionate team of volunteers. They help me and my team week in, week out, whatever the weather and have dedicated hundreds of hours over the years.

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is celebrating after receiving a Green Flag Award for Ladderedge Country Park.

The news that this nature reserve has achieved the accreditation - the international quality mark for parks and green spaces - is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team of staff and volunteers that care for the green space so that everyone can enjoy it.

Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award Scheme Manager Paul Todd MBE said: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved at Ladderedge Country Park in achieving a Green Flag Award.

“This is a vital green space for the community in Leek, bringing people together and providing opportunities to lead healthy lifestyles. The staff and volunteers do so much to ensure that it maintains the high standards of the Green Flag Award and everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement.”

A group of 6 people all hold up a large green flag and smile. The flag has text that reads Green Flag Award 2023/24. They stand on a grassy area with woodland behind them.

Mark Preece, Senior Reserves Officer, at Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, said: “Ladderedge is such a special place to many people, and importantly it is also very special for nature. It provides quality and varied habitat to lots of different wildlife.

“We’re thrilled to receive this national recognition, which is only possible thanks to the unwavering support from our passionate team of volunteers. They help me and my team week in, week out, whatever the weather and have dedicated hundreds of hours over the years.”

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
