Staffordshire Wildlife Trust has launched a competition to find 13 stunning images from across the county for the calendar, which will go on sale later this year.

The competition follows the success of previous calendar competitions organised by the Trust, which saw hundreds of high quality entries submitted.

Photographers can pick out any photographs they have already taken, check for wildlife in their gardens or head out into the countryside across the county and start snapping. Images which capture all the seasons are required for the calendar.

From bugs to birds, and gardens to nature reserves, the Trust hopes to receive a variety of images of the special species and places of Staffordshire.

The 13 best entries will feature in the 2024 calendar and winners will receive a copy. The overall winner, will be picked by the talented UK wildlife photographer Kevin Morgans and their image will feature on the calendar’s cover. They will also receive a camera bag worth £300 from Lowepro, kindly gifted by them in sponsorship of the competition.
 

Sarah Davison, Marketing and Communications Manager for Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, said: “We’re very lucky to have such wonderful wildlife and wild landscapes locally. We want to celebrate our county’s natural beauty through the talent of our local photographers, and share it with everyone in a calendar.

“We are especially keen to see any images which epitomise Staffordshire’s varied terrain and habitats. From the rocky ridges of the Roaches near Leek, to the ancient lowland heathlands like our Highgate Common nature reserve near Swindon in South Staffordshire.

“This year we’re excited to offer such a fantastic prize and are thrilled to welcome our guest judge Kevin Morgans, who is no doubt one of the best wildlife photographers in the country.”

The closing date for entries is Wednesday 7th June 2023 and the 13 winners will be announced at the end of June. They’ll be invited to an event at The Wolseley Centre near Rugeley where Kevin Morgans will reveal the overall winner and present them with their prize. The winning photographs, and other highly commended images will also be on exhibition at the Centre for visitors to enjoy.

Photographers can submit up to three landscape oriented photos, which must have been taken in Staffordshire. Full terms and conditions apply and can be found online.
