The Energy Trail

The Energy TrailWind Turbine

This is an innovative trail in the grounds of the Wolseley Centre to show eco-friendly ways of generating power. The project is the result of a partnership between the Trust and Rugeley Power Station, who secured £15,000 towards the installation of the trail from International Power’s Flagship Award. Staff and apprentices from Rugeley Power Station worked closely with SWT staff to design and install all of the new features.

The trail is made up of a small wind turbine, solar panels, water wheels and other models to demonstrate sustainable energy. The trail is very hands-on giving you the chance to turn the solar cells to generate the most electricity or turn the wind turbine into or out of the wind.

As part of the trail, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust have developed an energy trail programme for visiting schools to do and learn all about renewable energy sources. For more information about the programme and details about the book click here.

Coming Soon: I-Spy The Energy Trail. Due to be launched in January 2012 visitors to the Wolseley Centre will be able to do the energy trail all for themselves with our exciting new trail.
