Grow it, Eat it!
Grow It, Eat It is a horticultural project that runs in the Staffordshire Moorlands to encourage people to grow their own fruit and vegetables and use them to create tasty recipes.
The project involves work with individuals, care homes , schools, Surestart and a variety of organisations to provide information and support in growing fruit and vegetables and eating the produce as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Monthly gardening meetings take place at Haregate Community Centre in Leek and 91/93 St.Johns' Road in Biddulph. These are a chance for both new and more experienced growers to increase their knowledge about a seasonal growing topic, share ideas and take part in a practical activity to grow at home. Refreshments provided. Meetings are free. See the What's On pages or contact Zan for dates and times.
If you are new to growing and don't know where to start, why not come along to one of our Free Beginnners Courses. These cover a variety of topics including composting, What to grow?, Where to grow? When to sow? Plant care, harvesting and companion planting. A practical task with free seeds is included.
Volunteering
We will be undertaking various community projects within Leek and Biddulph and are looking for volunteers to help with gardening tasks on these projects.
