Suitable for Key Stages 2 and available as a half-day activity.

During this session students will learn all about energy and where humans get their energy from, why we should try and save energy and ways of reducing our energy consumption. This programme is made up of a series of interactive activities including a school survey to bring energy education to life.

Activity Outline
In a typical 2.5 hour session we will cover all of the following activities. The session has been divided into 3 sections to aid pupils learning.

Section 1 – What is energy and where do we get it from?

This leads into an activity looking at where other things get their energy from and how electricity is one of the most useful sources of energy.

Renewable and non-renewable – pupils explore different energy sources and compare renewable and non-renewable energy.

Section 2 – How much energy do we waste?
Why save energy? – through a class discussion children think about reasons for saving energy.

Energy Audit – students and split into groups and do an audit of a room in school looking at where energy is being wasted.

Section 3 – How can we reduce energy usage?
Reducing energy – through a series of games children explore different ways that they can save energy both at home and in school.
