A Stoke-on-Trent based secure shredding and document storage company has teamed up with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust to support wildlife education initiatives aimed towards children and young people.

Chaffinch Document is one of the region’s largest secure shredding businesses, providing organisations with confidential destruction services. The business is headquartered in Festival Park, Stoke-on-Trent, close to Westport Lake and is making a long-term commitment to saving trees. Westport Lake Visitor Centre is managed by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust.

Alastair Machin, MD of Chaffinch Document said: “We are a young company but have grown steadily since starting in 2011. We are passionate about supporting local causes. Staffordshire Wildlife Trust does a fantastic job in protecting our wildlife and natural habitats and we are delighted to be able to support their work.

“Our confidential destruction is certified to BS EN 15713 and 100 per cent of the paper that is shredded gets recycled. For every tonne of paper that gets recycled back into the paper supply chain means that 17 trees are not cut down for making paper.”

Chaffinch Document will be donating £1.25 for every tonne of paper recycled to Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, and this money will be used specifically to support initiatives at Westport Lake. .

Chaffinch Document will take their mobile shredder to the event so that visitors can shred and recycle their paper at no cost raise awareness of data protection and avoid sensitive information being disposed of in general waste.

James Dennison, fundraising and membership manager at Staffordshire Wildlife Trust added: “We are extremely pleased to be working with Alastair and the team at Chaffinch Document. Working with a local business to protect our natural habitats is an extremely important strand of our work. It allows a business to demonstrate environmental and social commitment to the environment in which its employees live and work.”
